Rowan Bennett sat on the shore of the lake. He was tired from the past two days of prowling around as a werewolf. He was bored and decided to relax at the lake. He didn't really have friends at the school except for Professor Ravenclaw, who found him in the forest one night. Rowan's head snapped up as he caught a scent in the air.
He sniffed the air and picked up a beautiful scent. By the scent he could tell that it was a girl. And she was beautiful. He didn't have to look. all he had to do is sniff.

Picking up a few stones as she went, Marie was ready to just give up to exhaustion. As a little girl she often went to the river to skip stones with her mother, and that just seemed to be the right thing to do. Up ahead at the lake, she spotted a lone figure. He was different. That was the only way to put it. She noticed his head pop up as she approached, as if he already knew she was there. When she got closer, she was about to say "hi" but he beat her to it.

"Hello," She replied, a subtle accent evident in the way she spoke, "I'm Marie, Marie Noel. Where is the name Rowan from?"

"English origin." He said. "Even though I'm Welsh." He added. "Where are you from, may I ask?" He asked her, noticing her accent.

"France, in a little town off the La Loire. My papa wanted me to learn how to control my magic so he sent me here. They talk of building a grand school in France, but they haven't yet proceded with those plans."
She broke her gaze from his eyes and stared across the lake fingering the scar on her neck,
"I was surprised he sent me here. My mama died when I was very little, and he stopped using his magic then. I didn't know it existed until I was 10."
"Have you always known about magic?"

Rowan nodded. "Yes. I did." Rowan answered. "But I found out the hard way." He said.

"You should be the one in Slytherin!" She laughed lightly. "You're going around the whole point!"
She motioned to her scar, the laughter fading from her eyes,
"This is how I found out about magic! Robbers attacked my home, and I stood inbetween them and my brothers. This is my battle scar. My Papa had to use magic to heal it. I was so scared of him at first because he first..." She paused, "He first killed them." Marie looked back into his eyes, knowing he had probably a more painful story to tell.
"When he pointed the wand at my neck, I thought he was going to kill me too." She stopped again before musing,
"The powers of magic do so much good, yet so much evil at the same time."

Rowan looked into his eyes. "Yeah, I know." He said. "But I have a more painful story." He said. "My father was cursed by a gypsy." He began. "He had to walk the night as a wolf." He said. "He passed it on." He added. Rowan turned around and lift his shirt, showing Marie the branding on his back. "A villager attacked me when I was back in Wales." He said.

She couldn't stop herself from tracing the brand on his back.
"I'm so sorry." She whispered, "The pain must be greater than I can imagine." Marie shifted so they were once again beside each other. "People, sadly show evil more than good. The person was scared of difference. You aren't a different person, just someone who has different reactions to a full moon."

Rowan looked into her eyes. They were beautiful. He was happy that she understood him. He felt connected to her. He didn't really say anything. He just smiled at her.

His emerald eyes bore into hers like the fool moon, taking away all rational thought from her mind, which was a lot... He said nothing, yet the air wasn't tense, it was peaceful. It was right. His smile that appeared-nothing could ever take the feeling inside her away. Marie for the first time in years didn't think about tomorrow, just the moment, and she couldn't break it.

Rowan then moved in closer to her. He stared into her eyes for another minute until he decided to kiss her. He kissed her gently on the lips. He held gently as he kissed.

"So much for skipping stones" She thought. Marie couldn't believe it. Not only was a boy talking to her and listening as well, but he was kissing her. He was gentle, and Marie nearly fainted. "This is surely Heaven!" she thought.

Rowan continued to kiss her. He added alittle roughness to the kiss but not enough to hurt her. His hands run down her back as he kisses her.
